Gliclanux M 80 Tablet is primarily utilised to manage type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults. This formulation is a combination of sulfonylureas and biguanides.
Gliclanux M 80 Tablet is prescribed for:
• Management of type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults
• Lowering elevated blood glucose levels
• Prevention of diabetes-related cardiovascular complications
• Protection against nerve damage due to chronic hyperglycaemia
• Prevention of diabetic nephropathy and retinopathy

This tablet is taken orally.
The side effects of this tablet may include:
• Hypoglycaemia, characterised by symptoms such as shaking, sweating, and confusion
• Gastrointestinal disturbances including nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea
• Flatulence
• Dizziness and headache
• Upper respiratory tract infections
Gliclanux M 80 Tablet comprises two active ingredients:
• Gliclazide (80 mg): This sulfonylurea promotes insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and enhances insulin sensitivity at peripheral sites, effectively lowering blood glucose levels.
• Metformin (500 mg): As a biguanide, metformin curtails hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity. It also delays intestinal glucose absorption and facilitates glucose uptake and utilisation by muscles.

Drug-Drug Interactions
• Other Anti-diabetic Medicines: Concomitant use with insulin or other oral anti-diabetics may elevate the risk of hypoglycaemia.
• Diuretics: may decrease the blood glucose-lowering effect.
• Corticosteroids: may decrease the blood sugar levels.
• Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors: can enhance blood sugar-lowering effect.
Drug-Food Interactions
• High Sugar Foods: These may counteract the glucose-lowering effect of this tablet.
Drug-Disease Interactions
• Lactic Acidosis: Metformin may precipitate this rare but severe condition; seek immediate medical advice if symptoms appear.
Daily Dosage

Missed Dose
