Renpril 5 Tablet is primarily used to manage high blood pressure, a condition known medically as hypertension. It belongs to the class of medicines called angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors.
Renpril 5 Tablet is prescribed for:
• Managing high blood pressure or hypertension
• Preventing cardiovascular events such as heart attacks
• Reducing the risk of stroke
• Take Renpril 5 Tablet whole with a glass of water.
• Avoid crushing, chewing, or breaking the tablet.
• Take the medicine at the same time each day to ensure optimal effectiveness.
• Adhere strictly to the dosage and frequency prescribed by your doctor.
Renpril 5 Tablet is taken orally.

• Nausea or vomiting

Renpril 5 Tablet contains ramipril (5 mg) as its active component, which works as follows:
• Ramipril inhibits the angiotensin-converting enzyme, which is responsible for the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II in the body.
• Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor that stimulates vasopressin release, resulting in the constriction of blood vessels and elevated blood pressure. By inhibiting the angiotensin-converting enzyme, ramipril facilitates vasodilation, or the widening of blood vessels, thereby reducing blood pressure.
• Additionally, it decreases the secretion of aldosterone, leading to diminished sodium and fluid retention.
• The medicine also promotes the kidneys' excretion of sodium and water, which assists in lowering blood volume and pressure.
Discontinue the tablet upon pregnancy confirmation and consult your doctor. This medicine may adversely affect the foetus.
Exercise caution and consult your doctor as this medication may pass into breast milk.
Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Renpril 5 Tablet, as it may amplify sedative effects and side effects.
Caution is recommended especially with severe liver impairment.

Renpril 5 Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Be cautious when driving or operating machinery.
Do not take if you have a history of angioedema related to ACE inhibitors or allergies to ramipril.

• Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs): NSAIDs may increase the risk of renal damage and reduce the efficacy of Renpril 5 Tablet.
• Mood Stabilisers: Renpril 5 Tablet may raise lithium levels in the blood, resulting in adverse effects.
• Angiotensin Receptor Blockers (ARBs): Concurrent use with ARBs may heighten the risk of hyperkalaemia, hypotension, and renal dysfunction.
Drug-Food Interactions
• High-Potassium Foods: Consuming these foods may lead to hyperkalaemia.
• High-Sodium Foods: Foods rich in sodium may diminish the effectiveness of Renpril 5 Tablet.
Drug-Disease Interactions
• Hyperkalaemia: The administration of Renpril 5 Tablet could exacerbate hyperkalaemia.
• Angioedema: This medication is contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema.
Daily Dosage
• Take Renpril 5 Tablet as advised by your doctor.
Missed Dose
• If you forget to take Renpril 5 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Avoid doubling doses without consulting your doctor.
Overdose
• Common overdose symptoms include nausea, fatigue, or headache. Report any instances of overdose to your doctor immediately.
• Store Renpril 5 Tablet at room temperature, below 30°C.
• Keep away from excessive heat and moisture.
• Ensure that the container is tightly sealed.
• Ensure the medicine is kept out of reach of children.
• Use the tablet before its expiry date for optimal effectiveness.
