Sitanux M 500 Tablet contains two active components:

• Sitagliptin (50 mg): It is a DPP-4 inhibitor that enhances the levels of incretins, hormones that increase insulin synthesis and release from pancreatic beta cells and decrease glucagon secretion from pancreatic alpha cells.

• Metformin (500 mg): As a biguanide, it primarily decreases hepatic glucose production, reduces intestinal absorption of glucose, and improves insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilisation.

Drug-Drug Interactions

• Antihypertensives: May alter the metabolic pathways affecting blood pressure control.

• Diuretics: Can affect the efficacy of blood glucose control by altering electrolyte balance.

• Corticosteroids: These may increase blood sugar levels, reducing the effectiveness of the medication.

• Thyroid Medications: May affect the balance of blood sugar control.

Drug-Food Interactions

• High-Fibre Foods: These can slow the absorption of the medicine, potentially affecting its effectiveness.

Drug-Disease Interactions

• Type 1 Diabetes: This medicine is not indicated for patients with type 1 diabetes.

• Diabetic Ketoacidosis: This condition should not be managed with Sitanux M 500 Tablet as it may worsen symptoms.

Daily Dose

• Take Sitanux M 500 Tablet as advised by your doctor.

Missed Dose

• If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Overdose

• Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, and abdominal bloating.
